Watching Diesl

We got the privilege of watching Diesl for a day while Tracina and Adam were on their cruise. My mom had been watching him but she got a job working as an Aide and Park School and Thursday was her first day. We were so excited to watch him. My mom brought him by on Wednesday night and told us his routine. She said to give him a bath and that after his bath he would go right to bed. We gave him his bath and he decided that he wanted to stay up with us and watch the Olympics. Around 10:30 I went and laid him down and he was asleep by 11. The next morning he woke up at 6. He was full of energy and just wanted to play. Tracina has always told me how much he likes to play in the water so we got our pool out and the kids swam for a little while. Riley and Ashlyn were freezing after 20 minutes but not Diesl. He just kept on playing. He didn’t care that it was breezy.
Diesl fell asleep while we were feeding him lunch and the kids had to have their pictures taken next to him.

Ashlyn’s 1st Horse Ride in the Mountains

Steve decided to go for a horse ride on Sunday morning. Riley didn’t want to go and Ashlyn wanted to. I really didn’t think that she would go but she did. They were gone for over 2 hours. Steve said that she cried a little bit at first but that she was happy the rest of the ride.

Cache County Fair

This year at the Cache County Fair, Riley and Audrey tried something new. They both showed a goat in the PeeWee Goat show. There was a judge that went around and talked to the kids about their goat and asked them questions. They had so much fun and got a prize at the end.

The next day it was time for Riley to show his sheep. He didn’t really want to show a sheep this year because his sheep was a little hyper but he decided to do it anyways. They have them walk the sheep around the arena until they get to the judge where she asks them what their name is, what their sheeps name is, and their favorite thing to do with their sheep. It is so funny because 90% of the kids answer that they like to take their sheep for a walk.

Riley, Hunter, and Mackenize all had passes to ride the carnival rides so on Saturday morning during the auction we let them ride the rides. We were able to sneak Ashlyn on a couple and she had a blast.

Camping up High Creek

For the 24th we went camping up High Creek. We love camping here. We did a couple of fun activities with the kids that I wanted to share. Brian and Melissa brought a Pinata. It was so fun to watch the kids try to hit it, especially the younger ones.

Later we made zucchini boats. It is so messy but lots of fun. Jamie made flags for the boats.

In Riley’s preschool class at North Park he made a backpack out of a brown grocery sack. We all thought it was such a cute idea that we decided to make them up camping. I think they turned out really cute.

After we made the bags we had the kids go on a scavenger hunt for things around the campground. Once they found the items we had prizes for them. We all pitched in and got toys from the dollar store. I am so glad that we are able to do fun things with our families.

Trip to Ogden

While we were in Ogden visiting Garry we were able to do a couple of fun things. First we met Brad and Alyson at Dinosaur Park. I think the kids had lots of fun. We had Brody for a little bit and Ashlyn loved having him along. Riley loved the Dinosaurs. He was so upset when he couldn’t see a real dinosaur.

Steve’s cousin Brenda told us about a park where the kids could play and get wet. The best part about it was that it was free. The directions that she gave us were crazy. I don’t know how we found it but we did and the kids had so much fun. Now we just need one of these in Cache Valley.

The “Condo”

The kids wanted a sandbox so Steve decided to build them a play hut. I thought it would be a little hut for the kids to play in but Steve had other ideas. He told me he wanted it to be sheet rocked, painted, carpeted, and have power to it. I nicknamed it the “Condo”. I was worried at first but he did an awesome job with it. (Currently it has no power. First Camping Trip of the Year!

This past weekend we went camping with Scott, Jamie, and their girls. It was so much fun. We went up High Creek and found a really nice spot. It is nice to get away from "the busy life" even if it is only for a few days. On Saturday morning we had our usual camping breakfast (YUMMY) and then Steve, Riley, Scott, and Audrey went for a horse ride. Jamie and I thought that it would be a short ride but they were probably gone for 3 or more hours. Those kid are amazing that they can sit on a horse for that long. Erika brought a friend and that kept her pretty busy. Ashlyn kept Jamie and myself extremely busy. I don't think that girl ever stops. Busy, Busy, Busy. I tried to keep her entertained as much as I could. I got out the crafts and she ate the glue. I got her baby out and she pushed it around in the dump truck.
She had lots of fun feeding the dogs lots of treats. Erika and Audrey brought their Beebee guns and the kids and older boys (Steve and Scott) had fun shooting at Pepsi cans.
Riley is already asking when we can go camping again and when he can get his own Beebee gun!!
